Brigitte Nicol-Messali is a mosaic artist originally from the south of France. She moved to the United States in 2001 and also spent eight years living in the Middle East. Her artistic journey has been shaped by a deep study of mosaic techniques—from traditional to contemporary—culminating in a three-year diploma from the University Saint Joseph in Beirut, Lebanon.

Brigitte has participated in numerous exhibitions, including Artomatic in Virginia (USA) in June 2011, Holon and Pita Tikva (Israel) in 2014, Galleria Pall Mall in London in March 2015, and a solo exhibition at Swann House in Washington, DC, in 2018.

She was during 4 years a resident artist at Artists & Makers Studios in North Bethesda, where she offered classes and workshops. She worked also with children, especially the conception and supervision of mural projects with preschoolers from L’Enfant International Montessori School in Bethesda,MD in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and teenagers from the French International Lycée in Bethesda.

Her African-themed triptych was representing France at the "Art of the Francophonie" exhibition at the Ven Hotel in Washington, DC.

She moved recently to Myrtle Beach and is looking to connect with the local artist community.

She is already a member of the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild.

Brigitte describes her work as follows:

“A major part of my work is translating into mosaic the art of famous painters like Klimt, Van Gogh, or oriental artists. I also create my own original designs, drawing inspiration from textiles, linens, carpets, and china—blending shapes and colors to evoke a sensory experience of texture, scent, and music. My materials include glass tiles, gold and gold-based tesserae, Murano millefiori, mirrors, marble, stone, broken china, and more. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and can be used to decorate walls, floors, or other spaces. The most important thing is: EACH PIECE IS UNIQUE.”
